BC East All-Stars (VORTEX) – 2011

The tryouts for the BC All Star East team (better known as Vortex) will be on Tues May 24th and Thurs May 26th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the North Surrey Secondary School Oval.  A third (probably limited) tryout will probably be held on May 28th will be at hosted in Burnaby at Burnaby Lake Park East (Site of Tier II tournament).  Final details are still being worked out.
 
Players need to register NOW if they intend to try out.  See details from BCDSS website below. 
 
If you wish to attend tryouts, every player must:

1) Register yourself as a player for the BC Junior All-Stars team, under the event registration page.

2) Complete the BCDSS Junior Player Application Form and the Juniors Team and Individual Conduct Policy.

These documents MUST be completely filled out, signed, and sent to my attention PRIOR to May 21st, 2011. Please contact me to get an address to mail them to, or you can fax them or even scan and e-mail them to me. However, they MUST be received prior to May 21st. In addition, you must be registered prior to May 21st, or you may not be considered for this years team.

Please note that I will be in attendance at the BCJUC Tier 1 Division tournament in Surrey on the 14/15th if you wish to hand deliver your application to me.

Tryouts are open to all players that will be 18 and under by December 31, 2011.

Please bring cleats, a disc, water, and a dark and light t-shirt to all tryouts. Please note: Grey does not constitute “a dark and a light” You need to bring 2 jerseys of distinct color.

The team is co-ed, so boys and girls need apply.

Vortex 2010 – Update

The Vortex Junior Ultimate Club is pleased to announce that they have teamed up with the BCDSS in supporting this summers Ultimate program under the BC All Stars East name (for now).  We have identified our coaches for this year including Mr. Momeyer from Fraser Heights, Ms. Meyer from Fraser Valley Christian and Maria Chau from UBC.  The group combines to provide an excellent combination of experience at playing and coaching Ultimate.  Registration for tryouts is currently being accepted on the BCDSS Upcoming Events page ( http://www.bcdss.bc.ca/events/index.html ). 

After finishing 2nd in Canada last year, we have a number of players graduating or moving on to play with Team Canada this summer leaving us with lots of openings.  Registration must be completed by May 30th.  Tryouts are scheduled for Tues June 1st and Thurs June 3rd between 6pm and 9pm at the North Surrey Secondary School oval.  Almost all practices this summer will be at fields in north Surrey.  We will be playing in at least 3 tournaments this summer, so come on out and play.

Vortex – 2nd in Canada!

The Vortex Junior Ultimate team attended the Canadian Ultimate Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 13th to 16th, 2009.  The team finished 2nd in Canada, defeating the previously undefeated and defending champions, Mofo, in the semi-finals.  This was Vortex’s 5th year of taking a team from the Fraser Valley to the Canadian Ultimate Championships and our best result to date.

2009 Fraser Valley Vortex Tryouts

Vortex Ultimate Club has taken a select team of players (mostly from the Fraser Valley) to the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC’s) for the past 4 years. We once again expect to be taking a team to this years CUC’s in Winnipeg, Manitoba between August 13th and 16th, 2009.

Tryouts will be held from 6:00pm to 8:30pm on:

Wednesday May 27th at the North Surrey Secondary track field at 15945 96th Ave, Surrey, BC (corner of 96th Ave and 160th St) and on

Tuesday June 2nd at the John Maclure Community School at 2990 Oriole Crescent, Abbotsford, BC (north of George Ferguson Way between Gladwin Rd and Tretheway St).

Anyone interested in trying out for the team needs to attend at least one of the tryouts and preferably both. Please come with your cleats, water, light and dark jersey and prepared to play.

Fraser Valley Vortex

Vortex Ultimate Club has taken a select team of players from the Fraser Valley to the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC’s) for the past 3 years. We will once again expect to be taking a team to this years CUC’s in Calgary between August 14th and 17th, 2008.

Tryouts will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on:
Tuesday June 3rd at the Clayton Heights rugby field at 7003 188th St., Surrey, BC and on Thursday June 5th at the Yale Secondary football field/oval at 34620 Yale Rd., Abbotsford, BC.

Those interested in trying out for the team need to attend at least one of the tryouts and preferably both. Please come with your cleats, water, light and dark jersey and prepared to play.
